Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to inform you of the steps that Sterner Veterinary Clinic is taking to ensure we continue to serve our clients and our patients. Currently, we plan on providing services during our normal hours of business. However, this is subject to change at any time as we are continuously monitoring and adhering to directives and recommendations listed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the State of Michigan (SOM), and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
We are cognizant of the severity of the spread of the virus, that is why your health is just as important to us as your beloved pets. Therefore, we sincerely appreciate your cooperation with our new policies that go into effect immediately and indefinitely.
We ask that any ill adults or children not enter our clinic until no longer contagious per the recommendation of their primary care physician or medical health professional. Additionally, please refrain from entering our clinic if you have traveled internationally or domestically (out of state) within the last 14 days.
If feasible, we ask that only one healthy adult arrives for the appointment. If you are ill and are the only owner available to bring in your pet, we ask that you cancel your appointment. If you and your pet are ill please call and we can discuss options and potential arrangements.
We have ramped up efforts and are continuously disinfecting all areas of our clinic to ensure we minimize the spread of any germs. Hence, when your pet is admitted for surgery, items from home will not be allowed to stay in the clinic. This includes but not limited to: leashes, carriers, blankets, collars, and toys.
We are practicing social distancing in our clinic, so please try to refrain from shaking hands and remain 6 feet away from the staff. We are trying to keep the staff as healthy as possible so that we can take care of your furry family members. However, if a staff member becomes ill we will be sending them home and this could result in us being short-staffed and longer wait times.
We are trying to limit the number of people waiting in the lobby. So, when you arrive at the clinic for your appointment, please call us from your vehicle and we will let you know when there is an exam room available.
Please call ahead in advance for any medication orders and pay over the phone if possible. Upon arrival at the clinic please call us from your vehicle and we will bring your medication out to you if you have prepaid.
This situation remains fluid and any of these policies are subject to change at any time. For more information on the coronavirus, please visit the AVMA’s website at: https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/animal-health-and-welfare/covid-19
